Shirley vid clip #1:

Shirley vid clip # 2:

The touching story of Shirley and Jenny, two former circus elephant, who were reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee after a 22-year separation.

The bonding was immediate. Shirley, who was crippled in an attack and traded to a Louisiana zoo, had not seen another elephant in over 20 years. Their reunion is intense and unforgettable.

  1. Alan,
I had my head wrapped up in bookkeeping for the last 3 days. I received this email, and took a break to watch the video. What an altering experience. It really puts life and the delicate balance we strive for in great perspective.
My heart broke for Solomon who was so giving of himself to care for Shirley. It is so bittersweet of a love, but I hope he knows he was most likely the one that kept her having hope. It gives me hope that one day I will connect with someone to spend the rest of my days with. We are all God’s gifts, and we are all deserving of a companion to give us a purpose for living and loving, and giving, the 3 things we were brought into this world to do without having to be taught.
Bless you for the work you do Alan, and for sharing this lovely love story .
    Peace and hugs.

    1. Robin, you are most welcome. 20+ years is a long time to wait for a true companion…but if that is what life holds for me, then so be it.

Hello Alan – I can only repeat what has already been said – much gratitude to you in sharing this beautiful uplifting film of Shirley and Jenny. May their days be long and love-ly.

  3. Boy, that really struck a chord deep inside! I’m still wiping my tears. I love how they are inseparable at the end of the video. True love!

    1. Helen, there is much to be said about emotional IQ after watching these two elephants. Not to mention Moral IQ and taking action on how we treat these magnificent animals. ad

Simply beautiful. Thank you for this sweet reminder of love. Because that is all we are searching for.

    1. Lorraine, yes – we are all working our way home to that place where we are loved and celebrated for who we are…

      Keep shining. ad

  5. Dear Alan:
With this video you touched the most inner parts of my heart! Being an animal lover I don’t understand how are there still people killing them for fun or for profit!
I cried like a baby, with the sweetness of their encounter!
You are a sweetheart Alan! Thank you for sharing!
Blessings and keep that sensibility that makes you unique!
    A big hug,
    Syl

  6. Thank you so much, Alan! Yes, I’ve had MY tears for the day. Who says animals aren’t capable of human emotion–we obviously don’t have a monopoly on emotions–certainly not on love!

    1. Betty, I agree. We have so much to learn from our animal friends…we seem to have forgotten so much. And what better guides to the wonders of the animal kingdom that our elephant friends. ad

  7. Truly one of those “take your breath away” and leaves you in awe

    1. Joan – you are truly one of those “take your breath away” people. Thanks for shining your light in my world…ad

    1. Werner, I know…right. Beautiful story of love and reunion. Like the next time we meet face-to-face. ad
